10 Second Rule

Ok, we all know the "10 second" rule. It's that silly saying used by some of use who justify that it is ok to eat a piece of food after it has fallen to the ground...as long as we retirve it from the floor within 10 seconds. Admit it... you HAVE done it at least once in your life.

Well I saw on the local news that this theory or myth was put to the test. They analazed a piece of wet food and dry food that was dropped on the floor of a busy cafeteria. Results show that it takes 30 seconds for bacteria to take root and begin to grow once it has touched the floor. For dry food it's 60 seconds.

So there you go. It's no longer the "10 second" rule but the 30 or 60 second rule.

Not that I do that.
