So many of you know that we had a crazy rainy few days (and still having them). The remnants of Hurricane Karl keep running right into Corpus causing major flooding throughout the coastal bend. I am told that even though Karl is long gone, he was not an organized hurricane and thus all his moisture piled up behind him and has caused over 10" of rain in many places. I myself did not have any problems with flooding (some were not so lucky). No roof leaks and good drainage in South Corpus kept my house safe and dry inside. Outside in my back yard I did have the "Great Lakes" though. Huron, Erie and Superior....they were all there. I even went out and waded through the lawn lakes. Water came to mid-calf, when I wasn't splashing. Good times.
So instead of being one of the crazies and driving through two feet of water in places I stayed home and kept busy. It was actually nice to hear the rain all day. Something about dark rainy stay-at-home days is very comforting.
Originally I was supposed to have a ropes course but we had to cancel, obviously. So I went back home and curled up on the couch with my kitty and relaxed. "When was the last time I did this?". Patio is the perfect snuggler. As soon as she she someone lay down she has to to be right there with them. One of the many reasons I love her so much.
Things I did this weekend:
- Painted the guest bathroom (This was the last of the white walls!! I am not sure you understand how stoked I am)
- Made cookies (oatmeal coconut with milk and white choc chips - thanks Grandma Ima!)
- Read a book (It was perfect book reading weather to be curled up on the coach with a book, coffee, and the kitty)
- Dinner/movie/coffee time with Jenna ( a great time to catch up and converse about this and that)
- Cleaned house and put up some more decorations...a work in progress
- Caught up on some serious journalling
- Watched some great football games (and a not-so-great game, there is always next time boys.)
- Slept in.
